Miss Comedy Queen –Promoter FAQ’s
Revised 6/25

Q: What is the total cost of hosting a Miss Comedy Queen Preliminary Pageant?

A: The required base cost is $500. In addition, you are responsible for a $200 booking fee and hotel and travel arrangements for the reigning national titleholder.

Q: What does the $500 fee cover?
A: The $500 covers the two required national entry fees—$250 each for the winner and first alternate from your preliminary to compete at the National Miss Comedy Queen Pageant. A deposit of $250 or full payment must be received, and a contract must be signed before you can announce or schedule your pageant.

Q: What does the $200 booking fee include?
A: The $200 fee is paid directly to the reigning national titleholder and is due the night of your event. This covers their appearance to oversee contestant registration and the mandatory meeting, perform up to three numbers, and help motivate and promote your contestants and preliminary.

Q: Can I send more than two contestants to the National Pageant?
A: No. Only the winner and first alternate from your preliminary are eligible to compete at the national contest. This helps ensure a broader pool of contestants from different preliminaries. The Board of Directors does reserve the right to appoint “wild card” contestants who have entered at least two preliminary pageants without qualifying, if they have exhausted all reasonable prelim options near where they live, or there are certain situations where the board feels the contestant should have the opportunity to compete at the national contest.

Q: Can I appoint a representative instead of holding a full pageant?
A: Yes. During your first year only, you may appoint one representative for $750, provided you sign a contract and agree to host a full preliminary the following year. If you wish to include a crowning ceremony, the total cost is $950, plus hotel and travel for the reigning national titleholder. In your second year, you are only responsible for the $200 booking fee plus travel and lodging. You may not appoint for more than one year without written permission from Addison.

Q: Who decides the prize money, entertainment, and awards for my preliminary?
A: These decisions are entirely up to you. We do, however, recommend offering at least $500 in value to your winner and $350 to your first alternate. These amounts may be divided into cash, travel, and lodging incentives and paid in installments to ensure the contestant attends the national contest. Any contestant who qualifies but fails to attend nationals will be placed on a banned list and may not compete, attend, or judge any ANR-affiliated function—including your preliminary—until they have repaid all prizes, funds, and the $250 entry fee.

Q: Am I required to use a specific crown or sash for my preliminary pageant?
A: No. You may select any crown design you like. Please let us know if you would like for us to make recommendations.

Q: How long is my commitment as a preliminary promoter?
A: Your commitment begins when you sign your preliminary paperwork and ends after the final night of the National Miss Comedy Queen Pageant. After that, you can decide whether to renew. Only active preliminaries retain rights to the official title name.

Q: Am I allowed to attend the National Pageant?
A: Yes. As a promoter, you will receive two complimentary passes to attend all nights of the national contest.

Q: What if I have additional questions?
A: Feel free to contact us directly at any time—we’re available 24/7 to support you throughout the process.
