Who We Are and How We Started...
AnR Productions was created in Orlando, FL in 2005 by April Fresh and Roseanne DeShanaro, two former winners of a local bar pageant called Miss Comic Strip. That pageant stopped shortly after they won, so they decided to start their own pageant based on Humor and Creativity. Thus began The Miss Comedy Queen pageant. It was created because they wanted to bring a comedy contest for female impersonators to a larger audience. The first Miss Comedy Queen pageant was held in August of 2005 in Orlando at the world-famous Parliament House Resort (now closed).
In 2010 after a few successful years of holding the pageant, Roseanne took a break from drag, and Miss Comedy Queen 2006, Addison Taylor joined April in continuing the pageant while helping the system to grow exponentially over the years into one of the biggest and most popular drag pageants for comedic entertainers. It also became nationally recognized, and the system has continued to grow with the addition of preliminary pageants each year that are held all across the country! Each year we have 35-40 contestants competing at Nationals and it has now become a 5-day pageant showcasing some of the funniest, most creative queens from across the land. It's a wonderful system for those entertainers who are looking for an outlet to express their humor and creativity. Miss Comedy Queen
Addison was the webmaster, office manager and ran the day-to-day operations, but she was so much more to so many people and our community. However, she unexpectedly passed in December of 2025. Our family is hurting, but we are strong and we will continue on in her honor just as she would have wanted us to do.
In 2026 we are celebrating our 20th year of competition and April has secured a solid team to help carry on the legacy that we have built over the past 2 decades, so please watch for those announcements coming soon.
Be sure to make your plans now to join us as we crown the 20th winner in March 2026 in Orlando, Florida!
